Why home matters after stroke
Stroke rehab gains stick when practice happens on the real bed height, toilet transfer and corridor. Home physiotherapy brings that context — and teaches family members how to assist without hurting their own backs.
How we structure early home sessions
- Review precautions from the treating doctor
- Assess bed mobility, sitting balance, standing and walking aids
- Practise the two or three tasks that unlock the day (e.g. bed ↔ chair, bathroom)
- Add arm and hand practice when appropriate
- Leave a short, repeatable family-assisted programme
Fatigue is real. We dose practice in short bouts. Heroic marathon sessions help Instagram more than recovery.
If you are in a served city, book through the Quick Physio app and note “stroke rehab” in the concern flow so scheduling expects a longer first visit.
Frequently asked questions
How soon after discharge can physio start at home?
As soon as medical teams clear activity and your pincode is served. Earlier guided practice beats long passive waiting for many people — within medical limits.
Do you replace hospital neuro rehab?
We complement medical follow-up. Complex needs may still involve hospital OPD or specialist centres; we coordinate rather than compete.
Can you help with only the arm or only walking?
Yes — goals are set with the patient and family. We prioritise what unlocks daily independence first.
Is EMS used in stroke rehab?
Sometimes for selected muscle activation goals. It is never a stand-alone cure.
